Heavy snowfall information

March 5, 2018 —

UPDATE: March 7, 3:07 pm: Correction: The majority of parking lots and pedestrian routes have been cleared of snow; sidewalks across campus are currently being sanded and will be completed later in the day.

Parking lots still awaiting snow clearing are as follows: ACE; ACW; L; U; Q; K and SD.

UPDATE: March 6

Roadways have been cleared from the storm. Physical Plant is still working on parking lots and pedestrian pathways on campus but they will remain in fair to poor condition for the next 24-48 hrs.  Equipment operational issues have hampered the efforts but staff are continuing to make efforts to improve conditions.  Pedestrians are still encouraged to use the University’s tunnel system where possible due to slippery conditions.

The Fort Garry campus shuttle is currently experiencing delays, but will be operational later in the day.

March 5
Heavy snowfall is expected to continue throughout the day on March 5.

Physical Plant is currently focused on major arteries leading into and on campus; parking lots are expected to be cleared later this evening.

Pedestrian pathways will be cleared throughout the day, but pedestrians are encouraged to use the University’s tunnel system where possible to travel between buildings due to continual snow accumulation.

A big thank you to Physical Plant staff for coming early and clearing the snow at the U of M!

See information on HR issues as they relate to brief work interruptions (bottom of story).

Closures: The following locations are closed as of 9 a.m. March 5: Dafoe Starbucks, Starbucks Armes and the Drake Canteen. UMFM’s campus radio office was also closed.

Would it be possible to get the pathway through the golf course (Parker lands) cleared as well?
    Thank you!
