Bison Football head coach Brian Dobie, plus four players, are headed to the 13th annual East West Bowl on May 9 in Montreal.

Bison Football head coach Brian Dobie, plus four players, are headed to the 13th annual East West Bowl on May 9 in Montreal.

Receiver Dustin Pedersen, offensive lineman Alex McKay, defensive lineman David Onyemata and linebacker DJ Lalama have been named to the team. Brian Dobie will be head coach of the West team for the first time since 2008.

“The East West Bowl is a great experience for all players and coaches during the week”, said Dobie. “I am honoured to be directly involved this year as the West head coach and look forward to getting back to the field and represent the West at this annual Bowl event in Montreal.”

A National Committee of CIS and CFL head coaches and scouts selected the players who were first nominated by their respective teams.

Basketball recruits named

The Bison women’s basketball team recruited guard/forward Emma Thompson for the 2015-16 season. Thompson completed high school in Calgary and averaged over 14 points a game in 2014-15 season at her high school.

The Bison men’s basketball team have named forward Dharmjit Dhillon and guard Raj Sidhu for the upcoming season. Dhillon finished his high school basketball career at Kildonan-East Collegiate and was named 2015 AAAA Provincial Championship All-Star.

Sidhu, also a grad of Kildonan-East Collegiate, is a 2014-15 Graduating All-Star after averaging 15 points, eight rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal per game.
