Bison Football Alumni annual Jerseys and Jeans Scholarship Dinner
An evening in honour of former Bison and NFL standout Israel Indonije
The Bison Football Alumni Association is pleased to announce the annual Jerseys and Jeans Scholarship honouring Israel Idonije on Saturday, March 12, 2016 in the Multi-Purpose Room at the University of Manitoba. The goal of the dinner is to raise scholarship money to support the University of Manitoba Bison Football team and their student-athletes.
This year’s dinner will honour former Bison and 11 year NFL player, Israel “Izzy” Idonije. Idonije, a former CIS First Team All-Canadian and J.P. Metras Trophy winner (CIS best down lineman player of the year) also played in a Super Bowl with Chicago, Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award finalist and named Manitoba Male Athlete of the Year by the Manitoba Sportswriters and Sports Broadcasters Association in 2002 and 2006.
“This is the first time in history of the Bison football program that we literally are in a position to honour a player that represents the best of Bison Football,” enthused Bison football head coach Brian Dobie.
“Izzy had an 11 year career starting with Cleveland to Chicago and Detroit and he is coming back to be honoured for all the great achievements on and off the field. It is humbling that his Bison roots have helped propel him forward as Izzy went from #70 with Manitoba to #71 with Chicago and had great accomplishments wearing both numbers in both the CIS and the NFL.”
The dinner will start with cocktails at 6 p.m. and dinner to follow at 7 p.m. Master of Ceremonies for the night with by Derek Taylor, TSN commentator/anchor with special guest Anthony Adams, Chicago Bears (2007-11). Single tickets are $175 with a with a tax receipt for donation portion of ticket while corporate tables for $1400 (table of 8 with a tax receipt for donation portion of ticket).
