Alumni gather in Toronto

November 10, 2016 —

Last night, more than 100 alumni attended a reception in Toronto to share stories and learn about some of the innovative research taking place at the University of Manitoba.

Guests were joined by Dr. Pourang Irani, Canadian Research Chair in Ubiquitous Analytics and Acting Associate Dean of Science (Undergraduate Programs). Dr. Irani shared how he and his team are bringing to life the wearable technologies and hologram projection tools of tomorrow.

Dr. Irani and his team are shaping the future. As Chancellor Harvey Secter said at last night’s event, “dreams can only become reality through the actions of people.” Together with other University of Manitoba researchers, Dr. Irani and his team are committed to research that will have tangible impact, both within Manitoba and far beyond our borders.

Further Alumni receptions will be held in Calgary on December 6, and in Ottawa, Vancouver, Victoria, Brandon, Edmonton and Minneapolis in 2017. For more information on future dates stay tuned to umanitoba.ca/alumni.
